2008 Midland Academy on Self-Determination

Who? Individuals with disabilities who want to have a full life, including a way to earn real money, a home of their own, a way to make a contribution to the community. Individuals who care about a person with a developmental disability and wish to help them have a full life.Start by forming a team around yourself or someone you know who wants a change and then engage in what could be considered a life-changing couple of days.

What? An intense, hands on, learning opportunity three days of learning together with people from a variety of communities. $150.00 covers registration, materials, meals, and accommodations per each person in your team.

When? Friday, February 14 at 9AM thru Saturday, February 15th at 4PM. Then, one month of intensive work at home. Friday, March 14th 10 AM – 5 PM.

Why? We have found that people learn best and are best able to incorporate what they learn into practice if they have an opportunity to hear, see, and experience. At the academy a combination of learning tools are presented with a focus on actually using the tools to develop person-centered plans that are then implemented back home.

How? To register or to get more information, call Mary Ann Datema at the Arc of Midland (989) 631-4439
